No sew shirts for Disney! Button shirts

Finished shirts - Big sister(top),
little sister (bottom)
Finished close up of Big sis tee

The glue I used and you can see that I just slipped the tracer under the shirt
After I mapped it out, I just moved them off the lines and this made it go much faster!
I ran a short line of the glue on the tracer, then put on the button with a toothpick.
The glue dries clear! Make sure the entire back of the button has glue.
Otherwise little ones might try to pick the buttons off.
If you are worried about little ones swallowing the buttons, sew them on afterwards!
But I'm tellin ya  - these little things are stuck pretty good!!
We are headed to Disney in May and I wanted to make some homemade shirts for my family and especially my two little girls! I have found some great ideas on Pinterest, which you can check my page out for ideas, but also on Etsy and then I just Googled Mickey vacation shirts. Not sure which site I found that the mom had made Mickey heads out of buttons and I loved the idea!  I wanted to make a quick, easy, no sew shirt and this is! Walmart kids shirts and I found a bag of buttons at good for $1.97. They were already mixed colors and sizes and thought that they would be great! I wanted to do something similar like her, but I had to tweak her idea and change how she did it to fit me. I sew and have a great sewing machine, but sewing by hand all these buttons, didn't sound like fun. I improvised a new plan -  craft glue! My friend bedazzles her daughters dance clothes with these little beads and we had done a few shirts at school for teacher events. It's super easy and they really stick good! I found the glue at a fabric store for $5 and didn't have to use much to make these two shirts! I found a Mickey head shaped by Googling it and then saving it and playing with the sizes! These are final product - the Big sister/Little sister Mickey shaped shirts- I'd love to hear what ya think!

Flashback Friday - Opening a Disney Store

My girls love Disney, but especially my older daughter who watches the movies, sings the songs, plays with her princesses and loves to look at our Disney album from all our trips - even ones were she isn't born yet! We recently had a remodel at a Disney store in the Houston Galleria, which is not where we live, but not too terrible far either! We were there for the "soft opening" and the grand opening - those posts coming soon! After I saw the big hoopla with this "Key of Imagination" I knew that I wanted her to experience that and for her to have her own key! We had to get to the mall early in order to be the ones to open the store, but it was worth it! They choose someone at random to open the store and we made sure to let them know we wanted to help that day! She loved getting to open the store and we proudly display her "Key to Imagination" (seen in her hand in the pic) in her room high enough so sister won't play with it!

Disney Paris- It's a Small World

United States of America
In 2007 we visited DisneyParis in a whirlwind of a day! We did both parks in the day that we had and I loved every minute! My favorite ride was It's a Small World, whose song was written by the Sherman Brothers! I loved that this ride seemed much more bright, had different places than WDW and had more North American places! We saw lots of American landmarks, Canada, Hawaii and I didn't remember seeing some of the countries that I caught in these pics.

Shopping for Disney gear!

I love wearing Disney and having little touches of Disney in my home. I am not completely over the top by having a Disney room in my home, but that's only because I married someone who doesn't love Disney as much as I do!  ha! I find when I am shopping that my eye is drawn to anything Disney!
TARGET -  I  found some really cute t-shirts for everyone in the family. They also had some cute housewares stuff too!

I didn't even go down the toy aisles, just know that they have lots of options for the little ones too! Here are a few pics that I took last night as I was shopping. They tend to have seasonal clothing that is Disney too, which is something that I love!

OLD NAVY - I was at Old Navy looking for just plain t-shirts that I plan on tie dyeing for our next Disney trip (look for that post soon!) and came across these - My favorite is the St.Patty's Day shirt!

My Disney Fund Jar

I wanted my daughters to see us saving for our Disney vacation. I wanted them to feel like they are helping too! My 3 yr old helped me trim the paper, supervised of course, put on the stickers and glue dots. She also helped pick out the stickers and the jar itself. We went to Hobby Lobby a local craft store that has some great Disney stickers and scrapbooking paper! It turned out so cute and sits on the kitchen counter were we put in change and dollars.

We measured two pieces of white paper, put on the stickers and then wrapped the jar using glue dots. The ribbon didn't make the final piece, but only because I have no idea how to tie a bow!

Link up and show me your Disney fund jar! I'd love to see!

Memory from this trip -
Riding Space Mountain for the first time with my mom and uncle. They both screamed the entire ride and I cried the entire ride! I was so scared! Afterwards we did the People Mover and there is a section that goes by Space Mountain- I thought we were gonna ride it again and started to cry and had a meltdown all over again! : )

I love to see old Disney memorabilia from people - Here is a picture of some old Disney tickets that I found and scanned. I'd love to see some of your old tickets! Link up with us and share a picture of your tickets and a memory from that trip! This should be fun to see the different types of tickets!
